Puncture testing Crocs and other shoes

In the last while, I was asked some questions that I propose to answer here. I took a nail and saw how much weight it took for it to go through different kinds of footwear. The Crocs type clogs remained remarkably consistent despite the brand.



Kids crocs knockoffs







When new, it took 8 lbs pressure to put the nail through the sole

When worn, it took 5 lbs pressure to put the nail







Adult slip-ons









When new, it took 9 lbs pressure to put the nail through the sole


When worn, it took 5 lbs pressure to put the nail


When I put the chunk of beer bottle in, it only took 12 lbs



Adult genuine Crocs


When worn, it took 5 lbs pressure to put the nail through the sole.

Platform green thong



When worn, it took 18 lbs pressure to put the nail through the sole.










Black well worn rubber thongs




It took 18 lbs to go through the full thickness


It took 16 lbs where the sole was worn to 1.8” at ball








Montego bay thongs




It took 14lbs at toe where thickness under 1/4" and it took 16 lbs at heel






Nike EVA sandal




It took 23 lbs at the heel and 12 lbs at the ball








Reef thong






It took 22 lbs to go through hard material at sole









Quicksilver thongs







It took 24 lbs to go through hard material at sole


It took 8lbs to go through softer material under outsole









Turquoise thongs



It took only 3lbs to go through softer material under insole



Hit the beach thongs




It took only 4lbs to go through softer material under insole




Green beach thong




It took only 3lbs to go through softer material under insole







Sand’n’Sun Birkenstock knockoff





It took 28lbs to go through the sole.






ATC (Addicted to Comfort) men’s shoe



It took 42 lbs to go through the sole of An addicted to comfort men's shoe.
